Abstract
Phenol, o-, m- and p-chlorophenol and 4-chlorocatechol have been detected in the excreta of locusts dosed with chlorobenzene. The amounts of these phenols present have been determined by isotopic-dilution procedures after dosing locusts with [14C] chlorobenzene. Determination of o-, m-and p-chlorophenol in locust excreta has also been carried out by a chromatographic-colorimetric method and the results have been compared with similar estimations on the urines of cats, ferrets, rats and rabbits dosed with chlorobenzene. The significance of the ratio of o-chlorophenol: m-chlorophenol: p-chlorophenol excreted by different species has been discussed. Keywords
