Abstract
It was found that the reported procedure for preparation of (2-hydroxyethyl)trimethylgermane (V) via (2-acetoxyethyl)trichlorogermane by trichloro-germylation of vinyl acetate yields (1-acetoxyethyl)trichlorogermane (I) and further (1-hydroxyethyl)trimethylgermane (II). Two unambiguous syntheses of the alcohol V, based on a modified Reformatsky reaction, are reported. Keywords
