Obstetrics in a Rural Community

Abstract
Inadequate hospital facilities and consultation services in rural communities, evidenced by high infant and maternal mortality, constitute one of the most pressing problems in American medicine. Solution of this problem requires the cooperation of the medical profession and the local community, as exemplified by Hunterdon Medical Center, Flemington, New Jersey. The author describes in detail the Center s facilities for improving private and hospital practice and for providing opportunities for postgraduate teaching and discussion.
