Aerial Photography with Infrared Color Film as a Method of Surveying for Citrus Blackfly12

Abstract
Medium to heavy infestation of Aleurocanthus woglumi Ashby, can be detected on citrus from altitudes of as much as 10,000 feet with aerial infrared color photography. The camera and lens system used at this height covered an area of 9 square miles on a single 9×9-inch transparency. Densitometer observations of the transparencies provided a correlation wtih the density counts recorded by ground survey. A 63% reduction in the cost of surveys can be realized by using this technique.
