Abstract
Recordings were made from the terminal arborisations of optic nerve fibers projecting to the diencephalon. Fibers in all cases were found to respond only to the onset of illumination (on-fibers), and to respond more strongly to blue (450-480 mu) than to other colors. The blue response was shown to be relatively independent from changes in intensity and saturation of the stimulating light, and not to be mediated by a single narrow-band photosensitive pigment. Keywords
