Cutaneous Respiration in Man

Abstract
The magnitude of the cutaneous respiration of man, the probable sites of utilization of O2 and production of CO2, the significance of the problem and topics and areas which seem to deserve further study are considered. The term "cutaneous respiration" should, perhaps, refer solely to the respiratory exchange of the skin itself; but, by extensive usage, it has come to refer to the absorption of O2 and the elimination of CO2 through the skin surface, without regard to the sites of utilization and production. It is in this latter sense that the term is used here.
