Abstract
Monodispersed polystyrene spheres have recently been introduced as a two-dimensional model system for studying phase transition phenomena. For quantitative studies coordinates must be assigned to each sphere in a microscope sample containing hundreds or thousands of spheres. This paper describes a digital image processing technique for automatically determining the sphere positions from an image of the microscope sample. Results are given for some sample images. This publication has 3 references indexed in Scilit:
