Abstract
By etching calcium fluoride cleavages in the laboratory, etch patterns resembling the natural trigon patterns observed on octahedral faces of diamond have been produced. It is suggested that the trigons observed on the natural octahedral faces of diamond may have been due to etch. Keywords
