Abstract
Extract The acute and chronic toxicities of five wood preservatives were determined by dosing sheep and calves with impregnated sawdust. On the basis of these results, the hazard to stock through the use on farms of chemically preserved fence posts was assessed (Harrison, 1959 Harrison, D. L. 1959. N.Z. vet. J., 7: 89–89. [Google Scholar] ). This paper records experimental and toxicological data concerning pentachlorophenol. Similar observations on animals which received coal tar creosote and three arsenic-based preservatives will be published later. Keywords
