Interleukin-6 Produced by Renal-Cell Carcinoma Cells and Progression of Multiple Myeloma

Abstract
Interleukin-61 is a multifunctional cytokine produced by both inflammatory cells and tumor cells, including myeloma cells, cardiac myxoma cells, and renal-cell carcinoma cells. It is also an autocrine growth factor for multiple myeloma2 and renal-cell carcinoma3 and is thought to be involved in the clinical manifestations of chronic inflammation, such as fever and hypergammaglobulinemia.4
