Abstract
Not many months ago, I gave my adult daughter a bicycle as a birthday present. After buying her a tire pump and a small tool kit, I wondered whether I should also buy her a helmet, the least expensive of which cost about $45. I complained about the price, but in the end I bought the helmet and gently but firmly exhorted my daughter to use it.
