Natural residual magnetism of eruptive rocks

Abstract
PART I—GeneralThe study of the magnetic behavior of rocks under the influence of the Earth's magnetic field and of time, and the study of the history of terrestrial magnetism by aid of the rocks and minerals is facilitated by a knowledge of some new facts connected with physics, physical chemistry, mineralogy, and petrography. As the literature is scattered through many periodicals in various languages, the facts, which are not generally known, are summarized here. Some of these appear of interest in connection with the general theory of ferromagnetism.
