A period-luminosity relation for supergiant red variables in the Large Magellanic Cloud

Abstract

Infrared photometry for 24 red supergiant variables in the LMC is used to derive bolometric magnitudes. The existence of a period–luminosity relation for these stars is demonstrated and compared with theory.
