Loaded short-slot antenna with enhanced radiation or improved directivity

Abstract
The circuit and radiation properties of a short-slot antenna doubly shunt loaded by lumped impedances are investigated experimentally. It is demonstrated that the electric-field distribution in the slot can be controlled by appropriate adjustment of the shunt impedances. Optimum capacitive loadings are determined to implement slot fields having either a nearly uniform distribution leading to enhanced radiation, or a reversed-phase distribution leading to improved directivity.
