Abstract
In order to determine whether or not transverse section of the ureter and subsequent end-to-end anastomosis causes an interruption of the nervous impulses, such an operation was carried out on 18 dogs. Since several dogs did not develop hydro-ureter and hydro-nephrosis, it is concluded that the ureter has autonomous peristaltic properties and that the technique used does not result in the formation of postoperative stricturing in the anastomosed area. The possible value for human surgery is discussed. Keywords
