Abstract
A pathway of iron transport not involving transferrin or transferrin receptors has been described as functioning in iron uptake into intestinal cells and in a hematopoietic cell line. Evidence was presented to show that it is mediated by a transmembrane protein (integrin) and a cytosolic protein (mobilferrin). Keywords
