Abstract
A large class of discrete multipass processes can be viewed as two-dimensional systems of the form proposed by Roesser. It is shown that the criterion for stability along the pass is equivalent to Shanks condition for two-dimensional b.i.b.o. stability. The interplay of ideas between the two disciplines should make possible the emergence of a coherent feedback control and systems theory for multipass processes. Keywords
