Abstract
The modification of the statistical properties of the vacuum fluctuations, via quadrature squeezing, can dramatically change the mechanical manifestations of light on atoms moving in a standing laser wave. This phenomenon can be attributed to the altered decay rates of the atomic dipole in squeezed vacuum. Keywords
