Abstract
The effect of formaldehyde on rumen degradability of the nitrogen and nonprotein organic matter in canola meal was assessed using dacron bags placed in the rumens of cows and assuming a fractional rate of passage of 0.06. With a diet of hay, degradabilities of total nitrogen, insoluble nitrogen, and nonprotein organic matter were 82%, 58%, and 57% in untreated meal and 21%, 6%, and 34% in treated meal. Key words: Canola meal, nitrogen, degradability, formaldehyde treatmentKeywords
