The determination of blood glutathione

Abstract
The application of the reaction between glutathione and alloxan, giving a substance characterized by an absorption band at 305 m[mu], to the estimation of glutathione in blood is described. Certain substances influence the reaction: [beta]-alanine, methionine and cysteine are inhibitors and citrate, glycine and other [alpha]-amino acids are activators. Some observations of blood glutathione concentration in normal and prolonged therapeutic deep insulin coma are recorded.
