Abstract
The angular-resolved energy distributions for photoelectrons emitted from the (111), (110), and (100) crystal faces of Ag are presented for photon energies in the range 7.0-11.6 eV. The variation of peak energy positions as functions of emission angle and photon energy are compared with a calculation assuming direct transitions between the bulk energy bands (relativistic augmented plane wave). All primary cone emission from the calculation has been observed and found to vary in agreement with the simple theory. Angular-resolved secondary cone emission is identified in two cases. Some observed structures are also assigned to surface photoemission mechanisms: Surface photoemission where the final state is evanescent in the bulk, or surface state photoemission where the initial state is localized at the surface. Keywords
