Psoriasis and Oral Hypoglucemiants

Abstract
Tolbutamide or phenformin [1-phenethylbiquanide] was administered to 62 psoriatics. In those treated with tolbutamide success was obtained in 66%+ 6.6 of the cases; in those who received phenformin favorable results were observed in 63% [plus or minus] 10.2 of the cases. The therapeutic result obtained with tolbutamide was not modified when this medication was suspended and changed to phenformin. A low hydrocarbon diet and the oral hypoglu-cemiants were therapeutic measures useful in treating psoriasis.
