Abstract
The effect of removal of the frontal lobes on the capacity for delayed alternation was investigated. Tests were conducted before operation, following the removal of one frontal lobe and following the removal of the remaining frontal lobe. 2 immature monkeys were used. There was little disturbance and no permanent effect from unilateral extirpation. Following the removal of the 2d lobe there is a permanent loss in capacity. These results correspond with previous findings on the effect of frontal lobe lesions upon the delayed response.
