Abstract
Presentation of CaseA sixty-eight-year-old woman entered the hospital because of fever and a heart murmur.One month before entry she had an episode of fever, shaking chills and sweats, and on the following day diarrhea occurred, accompanied by nausea and vomiting. On admission to another hospital she was found to be severely dehydrated. A Grade 2 systolic murmur was heard; there were no signs of congestive heart failure. A large, tender, red spot was observed on the left third finger. The temperature was 100°F, the pulse 110, and the blood pressure 140 systolic, 80 diastolic. The hematocrit was 35 . . .Keywords
