Abstract
New effects of the growth regulator Ancymidol in carrot plants.Ancymidol, generally known as growth retardant substance for ornamental plants, reduced length and weight of carrot leaves. Weight of roots, however, was either unchanged or was increased. So the leaf/root‐ratio was considerably narrowed. Pure protein content of leaves and roots increased, in the case of roots also the yield of pure protein.A regulation of plant growth and plant metabolism in this direction could be of importance also for other root crops. Keywords
