Abstract
Substitution of rare earths (), Th, and Zr for U in U depresses the superconducting transition temperature at an initial rate (), where is the impurity concentration, that increases linearly with increasing residual resistivity , indicating that the primary pair breaking mechanism is impurity potential scattering. The scaling of () with is strong evidence for anisotropic superconductivity in U. The absence of a correlation of () with the de Gennes factor of the ions suggests that the superconducting order parameter in the phase of U has odd parity.
