Abstract
The quantitative monoterpene composition of ponderosa pine xylem resin was analyzed on a fast column to measure peak height and on a slow column to measure peak area. Regression coefficients were developed to convert normalized peak height to area for five monoterpenes. In applying the linear mode to other samples, correlations ranged from .98 to .94. Use of this procedure reduced analysis time by more than two-thirds with an acceptable reduction in accuracy, and is used for rapid screening of large numbers of trees. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
