Abstract
A case of pulmonary alveolar microlithiasis is presented which has been investigated using X‐ray energy spectroscopy and microscopic infrared spectroscopy. These methods gave precise details of the chemical composition of the microliths seen in this unusual disease. The pathogenesis of this disorder is discussed in the light of these findings. Keywords
