Abstract
Countries worldwide are becoming increasingly concerned about achieving sustainable development. Currently, in Jordan, the ongoing development process with water resources exploitation and use of technology often inflicts serious environmental damage, especially as Jordan has the Middle East's scarcest water resources per capita. The Jordanian government adopts policies to utilize and invest in nonconventional water resources, which are incorporated in the new Jordanian investment plan (1992-1997). This article presents a description of the current water situation and discusses possible technologies and applications to enhance water supply.
