Abstract
An improved method for the gas-liquid chromatographic determination of ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid in aqueous environmental samples is described. The separation of the major peaks is increased by preparing the ethyl derivatives of the sample components, 1,6-hexanediaminetetraacetic acid being used as internal standard. The lower limit of detection of the method is approximately 15 µg 1–1 with 25-ml samples. This limit can be improved, if necessary, by using a larger sample volume.
