Glucose Uptake Related to Proliferation of Animal Cells in vitro.

Abstract
Summary Perfused animal cell cultures with controlled pH and glucose concentrations exhibited direct correlations of rates of glucose uptake with rates of proliferation and population density. Further, rapidly proliferating cells of fibroblast-like morphology consumed glucose at ca 4-fold the rates observed in cells of epithelial morphology increasing at comparable rates.
