Abstract
The first reported case, except for a burn wound, of mucormycosis producing a progressive gangrene in an extremity is described. Diagnostic criteria, etiologic considerations and therapy are discussed. Since currently available therapy may be effective, the necessity of making an early diagnosis of mucormycotic infection, even though in an unusual location, is emphasized. Keywords
