Abstract
Cortisone and hydrocortisone were found to interfere significantly with the ovarian hyperemia response to human chorionic gonadotropin in the intact immature rat. The interference was demonstrated by a decrease both in percentage of positive responses and in degree of hyperemia as expressed by depth of color on the Munsell color chart. Hypophysectomy and adrenalectomy also interfered with the hyperemia response. Corticotropin restored this effect in hypophysectomized rats. Cortisone and hydro-cortisone were partially effective in restoring the response in adrenalectomized animals.
