Abstract
A recently devised realistic model of an inhomogeneous isotropic plane‐stratified plasma is examined analytically when electromagnetic waves of both magnetic and electric type are incident upon the layer from below. Properties of the reflected wave are investigated so as to express the characteristics of the polarization ellipse of the reflected wave in terms of the characteristics of the polarization ellipse of the incident wave. Keywords
