Abstract
The fidelity with which a contact lens may follow horizontal movements of the eye is examined under steady state, or fixation, conditions and also in the presence of normal optokinetic nystagmus. During fixation no relative displacement between lens and eye could be demonstrated for eye deflections less than 30′ arc, and only small differences over the test range, - 9°. Simultaneous photoelectric and high speed cine recordings of optokinetic nystagmus showed that the lens may be used with accuracy for this purpose. A possible mechanism of lens movement is discussed. Keywords
