Abstract
To the Editor: Münchausen's syndrome is a psychopathologic condition distinct from other forms of factitious disease and malingering.1 Characteristically, patients with this syndrome travel widely from hospital to hospital, presenting with illnesses that are dramatic and emergent in nature and often ultimately discovered to involve self-mutilation.2 Since they cause difficult management problems for hospital staff and consume huge amounts of medical time, effort, and financial resources, such patients should be brought to the attention of hospitals and medical personnel.
