THE SUBSTANCE IN HUMAN SEMINAL FLUID AFFECTING UTERINE MUSCLE

Abstract
The pharmacologic action of more than 200 specimens of human semen, studied on excised strips of muscle from more than 400 human uteri, is related to the physiologic mechanism of insemination. The contracting action is due to acetylcholine or some similar substance in concn. above the normal. The normal relaxing effect appears to be also due to acetylcholine.
