Abstract

In shell model calculations for the yrast even-spin states of

{}^{50}{Cr}

, the static quadrupole moments of the low-spin states

2_{1}^{+}

,

4_{1}^{+}

,

6_{1}^{+}

, and

8_{1}^{+}

are negative but those of the high-spin states

10_{1}^{+}

,

12_{1}^{+}

, and

14_{1}^{+}

are positive. Yrast states with even spins greater than the single j shell limit,

J_{\max}

=14, again have negative quadrupole moments. © 1996 The American Physical Society.
