Experimental Programs: Reading and Mathematics

Abstract
The teaching of the general topic of solving word problems in mathematics is often a topic of discussion at meetings of mathematics teachers. In an effort to collect data which might suggest areas for curriculum revision and improvement, the study described in this article was conducted by Dr. Russell J. Call, Chairman of the Mathematics Department at Winnacunnet High School, Hampton, New Hampshire, and Mr. Neal A. Wiggin, House Coordinator at Hampton.
