DysgammaglobulinemiaA decade ago Bruton74 first described the absence of gamma globulin from the serum of a child who had recurrent pneumonia, otitis and sepsis. In the ten years since the original description of agammaglobulinemia further study has revealed that the usual congenital form of this disease is probably transmitted as a sex-linked recessive trait and thus is only seen in males whereas the acquired form occurs in either sex at any age and is frequently associated with chronic lymphatic leukemia or lymphomas.
