Abstract
For the photometry of extended light sources, such as the sky, the integrating sphere has been used. The cosine correction of previous models is investigated, and the deviations from the ideal cosine correction are explained qualitatively. A new design is proposed, and the results of tests regarding its cosine correction are given. The cosine correction of an MgO and a BaSO4 surface, viewed normally, is investigated and found to be inferior to that of the sphere.
