Abstract
Summary Five cases of torsion and infarction of appendices epiploicae presenting as an “acute abdomen” are reported. Anatomy, surgical pathology, symptoms and differential diagnosis are discussed. Treatment in uncomplicated cases consists of ligation and excision of the involved appendices epiploicae. Medical literature on the subject is reviewed.Keywords
