Abstract
Some sulfonamide-resistant derivatives of a PAB-requiring mutant of Escherichia coli require a higher PAB concn. than their parent, but others do not. Reversions from high to normal PAB requirement were sometimes accompanied by reversion to normal sulfonamide sensitivity. Drug resistance therefore is not always correlated with altered affinity for the competitive metabolite. Keywords
