Abstract
The physician's role in a neighborhood health center is varied and, at times, frustrating. In addition to primary health care, his activities may include teaching, administration, community relations, social advocacy and research. Current training programs do not equip physicians for primary medical care or interdisciplinary team practice, essential aspects of functioning well in health centers. Keywords
