Sensitized Sheep Cell Hemagglutination Reaction in Rats with Experimental Infection of Bone and Joint

Abstract
94% of 116 rats experimentally infected with a strain of Strepto-bacillus moniliformis developed an inflammatory reaction in or about joints within 5-7 days after intravenous injection of the microorganism. The euglobulin fraction of sera taken from 55 of these infected animals showed an increase in sensitized sheep cell hemagglutination titer, as opposed to 53 uninfected control animals. Although the majority of elevated titers in infected animals were not at high levels, a striking difference from extremely low titers in normal controls was observed.
