Silicon Compounds in Xylem Exudates of Plants

Abstract
An account is given of a study of silicon compounds in the xylem exudates of Equisetum hyemale and Zea mays. When fractionated by gel filtration the compounds behaved as silicic acid and not as an organo-silicon complex.
