Strength of reinforced concrete panels

Abstract
Equilibrium equations for cracked net-reinforced concrete panels are derived and interpreted with the aid of Mohr's circles. Limiting values of the strength of such panels based upon three different modes of failure are presented. Cracking and failure envelopes for concrete in the tension–compression region are presented which obviate the need for an effectiveness factor or for a strain-related strength criterion to evaluate ultimate strength. Comparisons with test results indicate the proposed technique is as reliable as alternative techniques and is attractive because of its simplicity. Key words: concrete, reinforced concrete, panels, limit analysis.
