Abstract
The oncomiracidium of Urocleidus adspectus Mueller, 1936 (Monogenea: Ancyrocephalinae) is described and compared with others. Its body is fusiform to pyriform in shape and measures approximately 30 by 75 μm. Sixty-one ciliated locomotory cells are arranged into four zones: an anterior zone with 27 cells; two ventrolateral zones, each with 10; and a posterior zone with 14 cells. An undetermined number of small argyrophilic sensilla occur anteroventrally on the head and 46 (34 dorsal and 12 ventral) large argyrophilic sensilla are on the body and haptor. Four pigmented eyes, 10 flame cells, lipid droplets, and a gut are present. Ten to 12 lateral and 2 median gland cells empty on the prohaptor and 4 posterior gland cells empty on the haptor. Fourteen marginal hooks (10 lateral, 2 posterior, 2 ventral) occur in the haptor, and rudiments of the hamuli are not present.
