Abstract
Gel-precipitation studies with antigens extracted from, and antisera produced by, the 12 strains of fungi investigated separate the strains into three distinct serological groups. The first group includes G. candidum, G. asteroides, G. javanense, G. matalense, G. pulmoneum, G. versiforme, E. lactis and E. magnusii . Further gel-precipitation studies seem to indicate that the first seven strains may be serologically identical. E. magnusii , however, although it crosses with the other seven strains does not show identical reactions with them. The second serological group includes the strains G. amycelicum, G. hirtum and T. cutaneum . Further gel-precipitation studies indicated that these three strains are not serologically identical, although they cross-react with each other. The third serological group includes only E. selenospora .
