Abstract
Observations in Clupea pallasii suggest that the adipose eyelid may affect vision in those fishes which possess it. Two possibilities seem apparent. First, the structure may act as a lens, increasing the focusing power of the eye. Second, it may provide a means by which fish can detect polarized light, at least in the peripheral areas of vision. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
